According to the results of the annual Work & Health Survey conducted by insurance broker Howden and the manufacturers association EEF, waiting time for treatments, surgery and tests were the largest causes of long-term absence at work during the past twelve months.
It was also revealed in the survey that almost a third of companies don’t have an adequate workplace absence plan which includes reporting of workplace absences, whilst 19 per cent of companies have no access to an occupational health service.
The results have led to calls from British manufacturers for the Government to conduct a review into improving Occupational Health and ensuring that all companies have a service available to them.
