Dr Jane Woyka, GP Principal at Harrow Health Care Centre, will be one of a number of speakers at the 28th Annual Symposium on Women’s Health.
Due to be held on 4 December at The Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists in Regent’s Park, London, the symposium aims to increase awareness of post-reproductive healthcare issues by providing a platform for some of the UK’s leading experts in this area.
Dr Woyka will be taking part in a 90-minute session called the Women’s Health Care Café, which will comprise of hands-on work sessions and useful case studies to assist delegates.
Organised by Women’s Health Concern – the patient arm of the British Menopause Society – the event attracts health professionals from many disciplines who wish to provide outstanding care for women.
Speaking about her participation at this year’s event, Dr Woyka said: “I am truly honoured to be taking part in the Women’s Health Concern’s 28th symposium and I am looking forward to sharing my knowledge with the professionals who attend this prestigious event.
“The menopause is something that is quite often overlooked or ridiculed, which can make it difficult for patients to approach doctors, during what can be a difficult time for them.”
Having previously spoken on national radio and to numerous publications, Dr Woyka is a British Menopause Society registered Menopause Specialist and a recent Medical Advisory Council member.
Her expertise has made Harrow Health Care Centre, which is located within the Clementine Churchill Hospital, a leading location for treatments related to the menopause.
“Attitudes to the menopause in the UK are changing, but there are still myths and exaggerations that can leave some women confused,” said Dr Woyka.
“We hope this event will help to dispel some of these issues and highlight other problems that may be not so well publicised, so that patients and doctors alike can be better prepared for issues-related to the menopause.”
Other speakers at the upcoming event include Kathy Abernathy, Chairman of the British Menopause Society, Mr Nick Panay, Consultant Gynaecologist at the Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and Professor Anne MacGregor, Associate Specialist in Sexual & Reproductive Health at Barts Sexual Health Centre.
